Artists and local children painted a mural behind 27th Street lower block in Rangoon on Saturday as part of the alley garden project. The alley garden project is headed by Doh Eain & Yangon City Grower and aims to convert the city’s wasteland into community gardens for recreation, food production, and social projects. The group recently converted about one eighth of the 27th Street alley into a garden and plan to transform the entire block by mid 2017. The event—part of the Yangon Art Heritage Festival—will continue on Sunday between 10am and 2pm at No. 79, 27th Street lower block, near the corner with Mahabandoola Road.
