The red-headed birds, which stand nearly 6 feet tall, are a common sight in Maubin, Eainme, Pantanaw and Kyaiklat, where they can be seen wading through water-filled paddy fields looking for hatching places. According to Wildlife Conservation Society Myanmar, the country’s Sarus crane population currently stands at over 600. 22.7.19 (Photo: Myo Min Soe / The Irrawaddy)
