A Chin ethnic man uses a mobile phone in Mindat, Chin State in northwestern region of Myanmar. Myanmar's telecommunication authorities has carried out the pilot project to link Thailand, Malaysia, as well as China as part of its plan for expanding GSM coverage to the border areas next to its Southeast neighbors. With the aim of providing better GSM phone line services to link the region. The government has implemented the plan, a local weekly journal reported. Only military and business elites can get GSM mobile phone costs K 1,500,000 (around US$ 1500) per item in the country.
