A fire broke out at a building on lower block of Maha Bandoohla Street in Kyauktada Township in downtown Rangoon on March 1 evening. The mezzanine on the top floor of the building caught fire and firefighters had to climb up to the roof of the building to put out the fire. Buses registered under the Rangoon Division Motor Vehicles Supervisory Committee--known as Ma Hta Tha in Burmese-- are seen in downtown Rangoon on January 15, their last day in service after plying through the city for several decades.
